COVID-19 Updates

Return to Play Update - 15th May 2020

We appreciate there has been some uncertainty around when we will be able to resume netball activities during the current COVID-19 situation. Unfortunately, we are no closer to announcing a return date at this stage.

We will continue to monitor the guidelines set out in the Queensland Government's Roadmap to easing Queensland's restrictions, as well as any recommendations from Netball Queensland. Whilst the roadmap suggests that some form of training may be possible from Stage 2 (early June) and competitions in Stage 3 (early July), more information is needed in regards to the specific conditions imposed on community netball. Netball Queensland has made enquiries to the State Government to gain further clarification regarding the physical distancing requirements (eg. numbers per court, etc.) and are hopeful to receive a reply in early June.

We will continue to communicate any further updates on our social media accounts and website when available. In the meantime, please stay safe and continue to look after each other!

Previous Updates

3rd April 2020 - BNA COVID-19 Update
Dear Clubs and valued members,

As you are all aware, our netball community has already been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with the
postponement of all community netball until 30th June 2020 as announced by Netball Queensland in late March 2020.
“ accordance with the latest guidelines from Government and health officials: Our strongest recommendation to the Netball Queensland community is to suspend all formal netball activity at all levels, inclusive of competitions and programs, until Tuesday 30 June.”

As an affiliated Association, we have aligned with the NQ recommendation of suspending all netball activities until the 30th June and therefore advise that our 2020 Winter Day Season and 2020 NetSetGO Programs has been delayed until at least the July 18th 2020 and will not be commencing on 25th April and 9th May respectively as previously planned.

To be clear, we have not cancelled our 2020 Winter Season nor our 2020 NetSetGO program but have just delayed the
commencement dates of both and as such, will not be offering any refunds on registration fees as we sincerely hope that we get all our players back on the courts in 2020.

The Representative season is also suspended at this time. Netball QLD have announced the 2020 Nissan State Age Event has been rescheduled to September 26th-29th. There will be no organised training for Rep until 30th June at the earliest.
As we have all experienced, circumstances are continuously changing in this current climate, so any decisions made now may need to be reviewed in light of further warnings or additional restrictions.

To keep Associations well informed, Netball QLD will also be meeting with Associations via teleconference on Wednesday 8th April to provide an update on all community netball, competitions and events. All relevant information from this meeting will be shared with you all.

Staying active and healthy during these upcoming months is very important and we encourage members to use the courts here at BNA for your fitness and netball practice. When doing so, please make sure to adhere strictly to the social distancing rules, including only training with family members or with 1 friend for safety. Do not mix or socialize with other people while at the courts, avoid more than 2 families on each court at one time and stay at either end if possible. If there are too many people around, go home and return later in the day. This is not a social outing and should be for your allocated 1 hour of exercise per day.

We also ask that weights, slam balls, kettle bells, scooter, bikes, roller blades/skates and skateboards are not used on the courts due to possible damage they may make to surface. These items can be used on the grass or vacant car park areas of Bradbury Park.

We will continue to provide our members will relevant updates as necessary and wish to assure all members that your health and well-being is the BNA Board’s highest priority.

Yours in netball,

Scott Christie

17th March 2020 - Brisbane Netball Association COVID-19 Update:

Important Message to all members of the BNA community.

Given the current advices and recommendations from the Federal Government over the weekend and revised advices from Netball Queensland today which read, Ïn the interests of public health and to stop the spread of COVID-19, it is the recommendation of Nertball Queensland that all community netball activity in Queensland be suspended until Monday 20th April. The BNA Board have decided to close our courts in line with this advice.

This closure will take immediate effect and relates to all organised clubs training and events, Rep Training, the Wednesday night Social Competition and outside court bookings.

The health and safety of our players, members, staff and volunteers are our highest priority and we need to play our part in being proactive to prevent further spread of this virus.

The BNA Rep carnival that was rescheduled for 19th April has now unfortunately been cancelled and we will be in touch with Associations who have nominated to arrange refunds.

We will also review the dates of the Winter Night Social Competition and advise these in due course.
We are hopeful that our 2020 Winter Day season will still be able to commence as scheduled on 25th April, however we will need to review this closer to the date and send further advises out at that time.
