Rep Coaches & Officials 2020

Representative Officials Wanted

Nominations are hereby called for Coaches and Managers for BNA 2020 Representative and Premier League teams to compete in the 2020 Premier League competition, State Age Championships and Development teams.

Please submit your nomination by 1 February 2020 (nomination form below).

Officials required include:

o  Coaches

o  Managers

o  Bench officials (Premier League only) – timer/scorer duties

o  Primary carers (Premier League only) – first aid duties

o  Umpire nominations have closed as of Saturday 8th February, 2020. 

 

Brisbane Netball envisage having up to 15 representative teams for the 2020 season. This includes up to three Premier League teams and up to eight State Age teams in addition to a number of junior development teams for 12 to 15 years.

Details of the various key competitions and carnivals are as follows:

Premier League

The Premier League competition is a season fixture competition held on a weekly basis from April 2020  to late September 2020.  All officials will need to be available to attend Premier League fixtures each Thursday or Friday night at the Queensland State Netball Centre at Nathan, plus training at least once per week (primary carer and bench officials may not be required to attend training sessions).

 

Premier League teams may be selected in the Open, 19 years and 17 years age groups.

Our Premier League teams will also compete at our BNA club carnival on 29 March 2020.

State Age Championship

We will select two teams in each of the 12 to 15 years age groups who will compete in the State Age Championships.  This will be held from 4-7 July 2020 at Sunshine Coast Netball Association.  This is a travelling event and will require you to be available to travel to Sunshine Coast on 3 July 2020 on the association bus and return on 7 July 2020.  You will be accommodated with the teams and all food is provided.  You are required to be present throughout the event and will be responsible for the care of the players in your team.  Each of our junior representative teams will also compete in a number of local tournaments throughout the year culminating in State Age in July 2020.

Leading up to State Age Championships

For all our teams, officials must be available to attend their respective events and additionally,

o training sessions held on a weekly basis;

o attend additional Strength and Conditioning sessions with their team on an ad hoc basis and as advised by the Rep Convenor;

o the BNA rep carnival on 29 March 2020;

o at least two additional association representative carnivals.

Development Teams

Development teams may be selected in the 12 to 15 year age groups. Our development teams consist of fringe players with identified talent who are likely to progress into the core representative groups in the future. Officials must be available to enter teams into five representative carnivals over the Winter Season and attend training sessions held on a weekly basis and additional Strength & Conditioning sessions as scheduled.

Duties and Expectations:

Coaches

All Premier League coaches must have a minimum of Intermediate level accreditation or be working towards this.  All State Age coaches must have a minimum of a Development level accreditation and must hold a current blue card for working with children. All Development team coaches must have a minimum of a Foundation level accreditation.  Proof of current level of coaching accreditation must be submitted with this nomination form.

A copy of the applicant’s blue card or an application for a Blue Card form must be submitted when lodging the form.

 

No Coaches are permitted to engage external specialist coaches without the approval of the Rep Convenor (ie shooting, fitness or other coaches).

Premier League Coaches

Premier League coaches will train one session per week and attend all games at Queensland State Netball Centre at Nathan, on either a Thursday or Friday night throughout the season. Premier League teams will also compete in the BNA rep carnival.

State Age Coaches

Coaches are required to conduct at least one training session per week.  State Age teams will train on a Sunday afternoon.  Rep teams will only train once per week until after Easter, in which they may train twice per week.  

Coaches are required to take their teams to two representative carnivals in addition to the BNA Rep Carnival. The BNA Rep Carnival will be held on Sunday 29 March 2020 and will be compulsory for all representative teams.

 

Coaches must attend a welcome night on Monday, 24 February 2020 from 6.30pm to 8pm. This will be followed by a Coaches Meeting.

Managers

All managers will be required to attend all training sessions and to assist with uniform orders and distribution.  During the competition, managers will be required to collect and return scorecards as required and to care for the BNA equipment supplied with each team eg bibs, balls, esky, water container etc. Managers will be responsible for coordinating a team roster for volunteer duties at the BNA rep carnival.

Extra duties are required for travelling events including preparation of food, laundering clothing, overseeing administration of prescribed medication and generally caring for the players.

Premier League managers are also required to attend managers meetings as set by Netball Queensland, complete team sheets, substitution cards if required and liaise with Netball Queensland personnel on fixture days.

Primary Carers (Premier League only)

One primary carer must be appointed per team. This person must sit on the team bench for each match of the competition. The primary carer is primarily responsible for the initial attention to injured players within their team. Once the injured player has been taken from the court, the sports medicine personnel may continue treatment as appropriate.   

Primary carers must hold a current minimum senior first aid certificate and a current working with children positive notice blue card. A copy of your current senior first aid certificate, must be attached to your nomination form.

Bench Officials (Premier League only)

Scorers/Timekeepers are required for Premier League only.  They are required to arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the commencement of the match and remain until completion of the match.  Scorers/Timekeepers are also required to attend any meetings as set by Netball Queensland.
